    Si no me equivoco, esta plazuela ocupa el lugar donde estuvo la antigua Plazuela de la Salud (la que existió desde la época de la Colonia). Fue hacia los años '30s que fue rebautizada como Plazuela Elguera (en alusión a Don Federico Elguera, quien fuera alcalde de Lima durante el Centenario de la Independencia). Su mejor momento debió ser hasta los años 1970 en que la zona no lucía el descuidado y hasta peligroso aspecto que tiene el día de hoy.

    Plaza de Toros de Acho. The oldest bullfighting venue in the Americas and technically the oldest active bullfighting ring in the world constructed for that purpose. The oldest ring in Sevilla, Spain began construction earlier, but Acho was completed first. There are of course ancient Roman arenas in use for bullfighting today that are older, such as the arenas in Nimes and Arles France.
